What Can I Expect During My Hearing Test?
A comprehensive hearing evaluation differs significantly from hearing screens that are typically provided at work or at your pediatrician or family doctor’s office. Conducted by our licensed, board-certified audiologist, it is much more thorough and requires approximately 30 minutes. Specifically, it measures:
- Simple, pure frequency sensitivity
- Speech sensitivity
- Ability to understand like-sounding words
- Middle ear function
- In addition to testing and measuring your ability to hear simple frequencies, we also evaluate your ability to understand what you are hearing.
Following the assessment, you will be seen and examined by Dr. Ludwick. The results of your testing will be thoroughly reviewed with you. If your testing indicates any hearing loss, he will discuss the extent of the loss and any potential solutions. Some types of hearing loss are amenable to surgery while other types require amplification.
