Everything about this practice is the best! From Jennifer at the front desk, to Cindy, his assistant, and finally to the doc. Dr. Ludwick is kind, patient, intuitive, and the best I've met at explaining. He sensed my apprehension about "local anesthetic" in my nose for the in-office sinus balloon procedure. He assured me that I'd never feel a thing; he'd use lidocaine spray; wait a bit, then numbing gel; more waiting, finally injections with a hair-sized needle. Awesome! I felt cool air in my maxillary sinuses for the first time in - I can't remember. Go to them!

I got used to wake up every morning with a stuffed nose and believed that was the best I was ever going to breath. I always had sinus issues/infections until I met Dr. Ludwick and decided to get an Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Septoplasty and PRITs. I was concerned about having that surgery for years but it was time to get a better quality of life and I now realized that was one of the best decisions I have made. The surgery and recovery went very well. I was breathing normally the next day, painless and had almost no bleeding. I was up and functioning normal after couple of days.

I have not had a stuffed nose ever since and learned that there is a better way to breath. I'm so glad I had that surgery done with Dr. Ludwick. I would refer my family and friends to Dr. Ludwick without hesitation. He also treats my husband for his sleep apnea. My husband is very happy now that he can really rest at night and has more energy during the day.

The staff at Dr. Ludwick’s office is always professional and personable. Thank you!!!

When I came to Dr Ludwick, I was very hesitant because in the early 90’s I had the complete Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) done to “allegedly” correct a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. I knew how painful the surgery was and the recovery had been. So armed with this knowledge in mind I went to Dr Ludwick and was relieved to hear that the FESS surgery had improved leaps and bounds from when I had the surgery the first time.

I wasn’t relieved to hear that the first surgery had made a mess of my sinus’s and that FESS surgery, and allergy drops would be the preferred course to help me to breathe again. Dr Ludwick took the time to answer my questions, explain the situation, and prepare me for surgery and that was very comforting. I really appreciated the state of the art office with touch screen monitors that Dr Ludwick uses to explain problems; it makes it very easy to understand! He started very conservative with his approach and as he received more information (CAT scan) he amended the approach laid out a game plan that made sense. After the surgery was over I could (and still can) breathe amazingly well!

I really do appreciate Dr Ludwick’s upfront and very honest approach to treatments and consultations with patients.

I had been struggling for years with being tired, low energy, and not sleeping well during the night. I had to take naps every day. I felt like I was missing out on life, my wife, and my children due to not having enough energy. About 10 years ago, my primary physician referred me for a sleep study. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP. After a couple of years on the CPAP, the problems had not improved. I was still tired, had low energy, and still not sleeping well during the night. I had now developed anxiety.

My primary physician referred me to another surgeon and that surgeon recommended an operation to correct my deviated septum. Unfortunately, the surgery didn’t correct my problem. I still could not breathe freely through my nose. I struggled for another 5 years with this problem. Out of desperation, I discussed my problem with my primary physician again and he referred me to Dr. Ludwick. Due to the lack of success with my last surgeon, I was ambivalent about visiting with Dr. Ludwick. Nevertheless, the lack of quality life with myself, my wife, and my children motivated me to make an appointment.

I was totally impressed during with my first visit because he asked me questions about my condition that I should have known the answers because I had a previous surgery, but I didn’t know the answers. I was not as informed about my condition and my last surgery as I should have been. When Dr. Ludwick discovered that, he PATIENTLY educated me verbally and visually. He explained concepts where I could understand them. He even showed me on the computer where I could actually see the problem. I finally felt empowered. Then, Dr. Ludwick shared my options and gave me totally responsibility for the decision. I chose to have the surgery to correct my deviated septum and it was SUCCESSFUL. I am breathing freely. I have energy. I spend time with my wife and children on weekends instead of sleeping my life away. I truly thankful to Dr. Ludwick and strongly recommend him.

Dr. Ludwick and the rest of the folks at West Houston ENT & Sleep Center were outstanding. Dr. Ludwick is very easy to talk to which makes it so easy to ask questions. I went in with issues of sleep quality and after a few consultations and a poor performance with a CPAP machine, he performed uvulopalatopharyngoplasty on me. The recovery was horrible but his assistance made it as good as it could be, but after about 3 or 4 weeks, I felt incredible. No issues sleeping, well, at least compared to before. Just breathing normally during the day become much less difficult which makes life so much easier. Highly recommend going in to see him if you are having any upper respiratory or allergy issues.

Dr. Ludwick and staff provided excellent service from the time of the initial visit through a sleep study and corrective applications for mild sleep apnea. The corrective applications involved Septoplasty including a turbinate reduction with sleep endoscopic surgery. Dr. Ludwick’s sleep study facilities were excellent and employed all of the latest technology lending to state of the art analysis for properly diagnosing my problem. Dr. Ludwick did a great job of following up after the surgery and monitoring my recovery. Additional measures were also employed with the use of CPAP and staff supported me to find the right fit of equipment. Overall, Dr. Ludwick has provided excellent quality of care and is always up to speed on the latest technology to offer his patients.

I am a patient of Dr. Ludwick’s and have been since October of 2007. He is a very talented diagnostician, extremely knowledgeable, incredibly caring about the being of his patients, and has a grand personality.

I sought out Dr. Ludwick in the fall of 2007. My physical complaint was sinus drainage and a possible ear infection as well as my husband insisting that I be checked for sleep apnea (he said he could hardly sleep because of my snoring).

I was greeted warmly by the office staff and filled out the initial paperwork for a new patient. After a very brief wait I was weighed (Ouch) and ushered into a waiting room. Within minutes I was joined by Dr. Ludwick. He was efficient and asked questions and actually listened to what I was describing. He was not impatient. He seemed to have all the time I needed to vice y concerns and ask my questions. Never once has he made me feel stupid or that I was wasting his time.

The outcome of the exam was that I needed to have a sonogram of my thyroid, a sleep apnea study; he prescribed a sinus rinse and a product called Flonase for my nasal congestion, indicated that I might have acid reflux and started me on Prevacid.

While my sinus and acid reflux were getting better, the news from the first sleep study was that, I did indeed have sleep apnea. It took a second sleep study to ascertain whether I needed a C-Pap or Bi-Pap machine. A Bi-pap was decided upon and I have had almost three years of peaceful, restful sleep. For me, who was not making in into REM sleep, and just thought I was an insomniac; this was a wake up call (pun intended). To sleep six to eight hours every night, to dream again, to wake up rested every morning is an amazing experience. I find that most days I wake up cheerful and look forward to the day. As opposed to dragging my self out of bed and knowing that the day is going to be a pain in the posterior.

As far as my thyroid goes…it’s gone. Dr. Ludwick was right and on January 11, 2008 at West Houston Hospital, he removed it. His stitching (I call it embroidery work) was so remarkable you can’t even see the scar.

In summation:

Would I recommend Dr. Ludwick to my friends? YES, unequivocally.
How high is my level of trust in Dr. Ludwick? VERY HIGH
Do I believe him to be knowledgeable? YES, extremely.
Does Dr. Ludwick treat his patients with respect? Yes, most definitely.
Does Dr. Ludwick take the time to listen and to answer my question fully? YES, always.
Is his office staff friendly, courteous, and efficient? Yes, with out exception.

Dr Ludwick changed my life!

My sleep apnea was so bad that I would stop breathing so often and my oxygen level would get so low that many doctors said I would not live past 30 years old if I did not get something done. Enter Dr. Ludwick. Other doctors wanted to take a radical approach to my situation by combining several surgeries into one and even breaking my jaw and moving it forward!

Dr Ludwick took a much more conservative 1-2-3 “step” approach to the situation and decided to go one surgery at a time on an as needed basis. I could not have been more thankful for this!

Other doctors wanted to permanently disfigure me just to fix the problem. Dr. Ludwick did not view me as a problem that needed to be fixed, he understood I am a person and always kept my best interest and recovery in mind.

When my insurance company rejected post-surgery overnight ICU observation Dr. Ludwick personally called them and explained why it was necessary. Sure enough, as per Doc’s request, I was able to stay in observation. After being released from the hospital Dr. Ludwick even gave me his personal cell number to call 24/7 if there was any change in my recovery. He takes a great interest in his patients and makes every visit as personable as he can, sometimes even personally answering his office phones without the aid of his secretary.

Before Dr. Ludwick I was always tired, grumpy, and a mediocre student due to my condition. He vastly improved my life! I am no longer sluggish or grumpy and even went on to Sam Houston State University where I graduation with academic recognition.

My quality of life has never been better and I owe all to Dr. Ludwick!

I became a patient of Dr. Ludwick a while ago, when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I was first tested in the hospital facility. It was scary, with all the wires hooked to me, but the staff there was very nice, and I actually was able to sleep. I really didn’t know much about sleep apnea at that time.

I had my first visit in the office after the test results were in. The office is a very welcoming atmosphere, not like most medical offices a very cold, warm feeling. The staff immediately put me at ease. They were all very friendly and efficient. Dr. Ludwick explained what sleep apnea was and how it affected me. He answered all my questions in a way I understood. He took all the time with me I needed, and I never felt rushed.

I was then introduced to Marisol, who takes care of my CPAP machine, and answers any of my questions. I am still amazed at how much better I feel since I started using it. I needed a new sleep study a few months ago, and to my pleasant surprise the clinic for sleep study had been added to the office. It is fixed up as comfortable as your own home, (only you don’t have to make the bed). Every thing for your comfort is provided for. The technicians for the study are very nice, and again, explain everything to you and answer your questions.

I have allergy induced asthma for almost 20 years, and the Dr recommended allergy testing, which I had done in the office. I had a choice between the shots and drops, and I am just finishing up with my initial four month treatment, and will be starting on maintenance next week. I am already able to away with my allergy medicine most of the time now. I was dependent on it every day before I started. Claudia is the very nice person who administered my allergy testing, and keeps track of my drops for me.

I would like to thank all of you in the office for making me feel so comfortable there and welcome. It is like I am visiting friends, not “going to a Dr’s office. ” Thanks guys!

If you’re looking for an ENT doctor with a caring nature, patience and a sense of humor, you’ve found him. I was a very impatient (grumpy) person after my surgery (Tonsillectomy, Septoplasty & UPPP). I was very hard to deal with and not a pleasure to be around. I found myself phoning the Dr’s office quite a few times in between my scheduled visits with questions and sometimes complaints. Dr. Ludwick and his staff (Marisol and Samantha) were always helpful and warm. They put me right at ease during my recovery. Just knowing they were a phone call away meant a lot to me. The overall outcome was a huge success. I no longer snore and there’s no need for a CPAP.

After much encouragement from both my wife and finally my family practice physician, I agreed to see an ENT specialist to review options on how to possibly reduce / stop my snoring. I was not getting the rest each night I needed and most days were becoming a challenge to keep my eyes open. I spoke with a physician friend and he suggested West Houston ENT & Sleep Center. My wife set up an appointment for me with Dr. James Ludwick, so everything was in motion. The office, next to West Houston Medical Center, was very easy to find and in a very nice, modern setting.

After my initial assessment by Dr. Ludwick, it was recommended that I have a sleep study. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive about this .. Dr. Ludwick said that they had just opened a lab adjacent to the office and offered to tour me through the facility. Wow, what a set up! The lab consists of two, five star quality bed rooms, each having its’ own attached bathroom and shower. There was a nice, large flat screen TV, desk and reading lamp, a very relaxed atmosphere.

Between the bedrooms is a centralized control area for the technician to control the sleep environment, monitor and view the patients. After seeing this, it somewhat soothed my apprehension about having the test done and went ahead and had it scheduled.

The evening of the test I presented myself around 7:00pm and was taken right into “my bedroom”. The tech was very pleasant and explained the procedure and expectations. She hooked up all the wires and devices for monitoring & breathing and I was allowed to watch TV and relax prior to calling it a night. Before I knew it .. I was being awakened by the tech. I was able to shower and dress, there was a hot cup of coffee waiting for me as I came out. The whole process was very efficient and not intimidating at all. One nice thing about having this done in this setting, it was just a co‐pay for my insurance! At no time did I feel unsafe or threatened. From the time I arrived and parked in the connected parking garage, to walking into the lab, everything was efficient and well planned. I have been in the medical field for 30 years and it is all about customer service. From the office and technical staff to the physician, this is a nice, comfortable, high quality lab that I would recommend to family & friends without hesitation.

I wanted to take a couple of minutes and express my appreciation for the different experience I’ve had since choosing your practice for help with my health needs. For about the last 5 years I had been going to another sleep study center in west Houston after a referral from my primary physician for investigating sleep apnea. They scheduled a sleep study and I came in for test. The whole process of attaching the leads was pretty overwhelming and it seemed like I couldn’t get comfortable and didn’t really get much sleep that night. They adjusted things through the night and according to them, I actually did get a few hours of sleep. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and slated to begin using a CPAP machine.

From the beginning, I had issues with mask they had me start using. The first mask I had was some sort of nasal pillow and it hurt the inside of my nose so bad during the day it was raw and painful. I was given some samples of RoEzit and even though it helped, I was still experiencing a lot of pain. I had to buy my own supply of the ointment and was still having problems. I eventually insisted that they do something about the problem and to make a long story short, I tried just about every mask out there and still had problems.

Part of the issue was that they had the titration level set so high the I really had to cinch the mask on to get a seal. It was so bad that wearing the masks every night ultimately ended up actually moving my teeth. My dentist referred me back to an orthodontist and keep in mind, I had my teeth straightened as a kid with braces and hadn’t had any problems for years. I continued to complain and nothing really was done. I also want to mention that I only met the primary doctor of that sleep center a couple of times in those 5 years, as he was always busy, and I was given his associate and sometimes even a nurse type assistant instead of him.

I realized they were more interested in dumping the data from my CPAP machine for their published study than dealing with any of the long term issues I was having. My office visits went from quarterly the first year to about once a year and I started thinking about how this was going to work out for me, longer term. Just the issue of getting these masks and CPAP supplies was a difficulty in itself. They had a supplier there within the same strip center their office was in, but unfortunately, they didn’t accept my insurance (which is one of the major carriers?- never did understand that). On several occasions, I had to drive to the other side of Houston to pick supplies on my own and at one point I had to have my malfunctioning CPAP machine replaced on my own, which was basically haggling with the supplier, even though all this was covered under my insurance. The supplier now uses an automated phone system that calls my house periodically, with a pre-recorded message and a 1-800 number. Did I mention that this “sleep centers” office is right next door to a kids video game arcade and you can actually hear this through the wall? Made for some interesting office visits.

Another problem I was having was that my sinuses were often so congested that it made it extremely difficult to put on a CPAP mask and breath through my nose all night. The result was that I would end up breathing through my mouth (which completely defeats the purpose of the CPAP machine) and I’d wake up with my mouth and sinuses completely dehyrdated and feeling lousy because I didn’t sleep well. I had a chinstrap that helped with the issue, but I lost it somewhere on a business trip. Their solution was to prescribe me a nasal spray (which didn’t help) and give me a referral to an allergist, again on the other side of town. The told me they didn’t recommend the chinstrap as it didn’t work well – I disagreed as it had helped some. It never got replaced. I also complained about chronic pressure behind my right eye that I suspected was related to all this and no recommendation was made.

Anyway, fast forward a few years. I got rid of my old primary care physician (for other reasons) and we went through the usual first time annual physical stuff with my new doctor. I explained about my sleep apnea issues and he immediately recommended ” a great ENT guy – Dr. Ludwick”. I learned more information about sleep apnea and nose and throat anatomy issues in one visit, than I had learned in years of going through it elsewhere. Being able to see full color live video of your scope inside my nasal cavities and throat showed me exactly what we were dealing with and you clearly laid out the game plan and possible options. I think you actually spent more time with me one on that first day than all my other visits with the other guy combined.

We scheduled an overnight stay in your sleep center to recalibrate my titration level and it was a completely different experience. The flatscreen high-def TV was a hit right off the bat as I didn’t even miss one of my favorite shows that evening. And the staff was awesome. The technician did a great job of explaining the system and the electrodes that needed to be hooked up for the night and then we basically just carried on a casual conversation about other stuff and the time passed quickly. When I first got there I was worried I was going to be bored out of my head because it seemed like an early start time and I’m sort of a late night owl. The time went quickly and I think I feel to sleep pretty quickly. I really only remember being gently awakened a couple of times when I pulled a lead lose, but then I sort of expected that as I toss and turn a lot. I should also mention that the private bathroom was really nice – I think it was a common bath/shower area with my previous doctor. I had asked if it was possible to wrap things up early in the morning and he obliged. I was able to make it back home and didn’t miss any part of work that next day.

The follow-up office visit was also great. We went through the results on your PC, in your personal office space, and everything was explained in detail. I was fitted with a new type of full-faced mask, which completely eliminated all the issues I had before. I was also given a new BiPAP machine (right there in your office) which also allowed you to reduce the titration (pressure) level. This alone has made me much more comfortable.

And finally, you also addressed my chronic allergy issues and sinus pressure. I’ve always had what I called seasonal allergies, but never did anything about it. I had been to other ENT’s in the past who did the usual antibiotic thing and then never followed up on the “chronic” issue. I literally lived on Sudafed almost every day and always felt congested, sometimes resorting to nasal sprays which caused even more problems. I was tested for allergies in your office and pretty much found I’m allergic to almost everything. I began the under-tongue drop regimen (which is really easy) and I haven’t taken a Sudafed (or any allergy medicine) since then and I feel great. That nagging sinus pressure is gone and I breathe much better now through my nose. I plan to stay on the allergy drops until we complete the full course.

I know this is long winded, but I thought it was important to share. I’m a really busy guy with a demanding high stress job and anything like this that can improve my health and make it easier to get through my daily life is worth sharing with others. One more note; I had one of those “annual” visits with my old doctor roll around here recently. I didn’t show up for the appointment and they sent me a $50 “No Show” fee. I guess they didn’t put two and two together about me having my medical records transferred. I straightened it out with a single phone call recanting some of the experience I shared above and they decided to eliminate the fee.

Thanks Dr. Ludwick!
Sincerely,
Jeff Matherson

Harold C. Rud

Over the past year Dr. Ludwick has helped me with the following procedures: 1.2.3.4.

I first went to Dr.Ludwick after telling my primary care physician that I was experiencing a sluggishness in the mornings. After my first examination with Dr. Ludwick I signed up for a sleep apnea test. This proved to be a rather pleasant experience and not as intrusive as I had thought. The accommodations were more than adequate and the comfort level could be equated to staying in an upscale hotel. Once the initial recordings were made at my first stay, Dr. Ludwick went over the findings with me and explained to me, in terms I could relate to, just how my body functions in terms of breathing. My second stay in the sleep clinic I was fitted with a C-Pak (sp). This is a machine that provided a positive pressure to my airway and enables me to have a restful sleep. This has made an enormous difference to the way I feel in the morning.

During my examinations Dr. Ludwick also pointed out to me some things that I had more or less just had learned to live with. One was a rhinophyma and the other was a deviated septum.

The rhinophyma was in my way of thinking a result of rosecea and over the years it had disfigured the skin on the surface of my nose, giving it a bumpy and often infected appearance. I had gone to several dermatologists and had resigned myself to be taking tetracycline for the rest of my life to keep it under control.

The deviated septum was a development that started in my early childhood and probably worsen thru the years during competitive sports activities. Dr. Ludwick pointed out that he could help me with both. At the age of fifty eight, I decided that it would be worth the effort to have repairs done on my nose as I approached my retirement years.

The first procedure involved the planning of the skin on my nose to remove the phyma. This was done through a day surgery with weekly follow ups until the skin rebuilt itself.

This was a very successful procedure for me. To my surprise I started getting complements on a physical feature I had accepted as being part of an ugly aging process.

Next came the rebuilding of my nasal structure. Dr. Ludwick had pointed out that my nose structure was bad. Something I had recognized as practically nonexistent for years. Dr. Ludwick again performed a day surgery and has told me since that the structure was completely destroyed and how challenging this restructuring was for him. I agree that this was a major undertaking, but I am glad it was done. My nose has a structure that I do not remember in my life time as having. I had always thought that people’s noses were pliable to the point they could readily be pushed flat to their faces.

The final procedure that Dr. Ludwick performed on me was Coblation Turbinate Reduction. Although I had my nose structure rebuilt, I still had problems with breathing due to alergins and suffered through stuffy noses which would lead to colds. This procedure reduced the size of my nasal tissue, allowing me a better opportunity to breath freely with less irritation.

All throughout these procedures and office visits, I have been impressed with Dr. Ludwick’s ability to explain medical terminology in detail in lay mans terms, his confidence and honesty in expressing his diagnosis. I find this refreshing in today’s market. It has been my experience that the medical field offers very few opportunities for a client to actually connect with a doctor. Dr. Ludwick, although could be classified as a no nonsense doctor, certainly shows some latitude when comparing a medical procedure to repairing a car. His confidence has built my trust in him and his honest appraisals are often right on the mark.

Dr. Ludwick’s professionalism is also very apparent and this has extended to his staff, who are courteous and flexible in helping to meet technical needs as well as answering questions.

Overall I rank Dr. Ludwick, his staff and his facilities very high when I compare them to other medical service providers I have encountered. Rarely have I received medical attention that has impacted my life in such away as I have received in the past year under Dr. Ludwick’s care.

Anita E.

I have had issues with my sinuses for as far back as I can remember. Most of my life was spent with me breathing through my mouth due to my inability to breathe through my nose. I finally came to the realization that this was not normal and decided to see a specialist. My first visit to Dr. Ludwick was in January 2009. Because I also have asthma and allergies I also visited the clinic next door to Dr. Ludwick. I thought my sinus issues were caused by my allergies and thought I could kill two birds with one stone by just getting treated by my asthma/allergy doctor. I was wrong.

After months of continued sinus infections and a visit to my primary care physician, I was referred back to Dr. Ludwick. At that time I had an added symptom of not being able to sleep through the night. Dr. Ludwig had me undergo a sleep study and ordered a CT scan on my sinuses. It was determined that I did have mild sleep apnea and that I would benefit from sinus surgery. I had my sinus surgery in June 2010.

Since undergoing the sinus surgery, my breathing has significantly improved. I no longer have to sit with my mouth open in order to breathe. I had not realized until after the surgery that my sinus issues had impacted my hearing. My improved hearing was an added bonus I had not anticipated. Recovery after the surgery was relatively painless. I was up and functioning as normal after one week.

The staff at Dr. Ludwick’s office is always professional and personable. I always feel cared for and am confident that my needs will always be taken care of. I never once felt anxiety about the surgery because I knew I was in good hands with Dr. Ludwick and his staff. I would refer my family and friends to Dr. Ludwick without any hesitation.

Dr Ludwick and his team are incredible! The office and sleep lab are gorgeous, I felt so pampered.

From scheduling-to-insurance-to the sleep study-to-follow up-to-my last visit today each staff member, technician and physician have been professional, knowledgeable and clearly an expert in their field or position. One visit with Dr Ludwick and you will agree with me.

I am pleased to “brag” about this West Houston Medical Center physician and feel very comfortable referring my family and friends to him!!!

I have had sleep apnea for about 3 years before seeing Dr. Ludwick. I would fall asleep in meetings, had no motivation at work, and always felt fatigued. I use to drink 12 cups of coffee a day just to function at work. Now I drink a max of 3 cups a day and I feel like a new person. In the past I have had my pallet trimmed incorrectly by another physician and it made my sleep apnea worse.

Dr. Ludwick corrected the procedure as well as performing a base of tongue and hyoid suspension. Since then I am able to sleep on my side with no obstruction. I do use a bipap because I often cannot stay on my side and end up sleeping on my back where I still get some slight obstruction due to being born with a small airway. Before my surgeries and the use of my bipap I would have over 100 episodes if interrupted sleep where I would wake subconsciously to breathe.

After my surgeries my last sleep study showed that I only had 8 episodes and I now reach REM. I feel like a new person. I wake up now and hit the ground running where before I was like a big slug dreading the sound of the alarm clock. The sleep study facility is very relaxing and the technicians are very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Ludwick explained my sleep study results to me in a way that made it easy to understand. He is very good at putting things in layman’s terms. He actually showed me the video of my sleep study session and explained to me what I was going through and why. I never knew that I kicked my legs and was so restless at night.

My wife is very happy now since my restlessness used to wake her often. Dr. Ludwick’s bedside manner after each of my surgeries was fantastic. He is a very caring physician and he has changed my life. His entire staff is great. From scheduling appointments, checking insurance benefits, and billing the entire staff is excellent and very friendly.

In addition to helping my sleep apnea Dr. Ludwick has helped me tremendously with my Houston allergies. I move here from Georgia in 2004 and Dr. Ludwick is the first doctor to give me relief from my allergies and for the first time in my life I look forward to Spring and Fall.

If you are experiencing sleep apnea I suggest that you schedule a consult with Dr. Ludwick. He identified my issues and developed a plan to resolve them and I am a better person today. I sleep, I dream, and I function through the day better than I have in the past 5 years.

E. O’Donnell

For years family and friends told me I snored heavily and stopped breathing in my sleep but it never woke me up. Eventually though it caught up with me. The lack of restful sleep eventually made me feel exhausted within an hour of waking up and feeling tired all the time. I suddenly found myself falling asleep throughout the day, that’s when I knew I needed to get help. Dr Ludwick and his staff at West Houston ENT were the one’s that gave me back my life. After my sleep study was completed and I received my Bi-PAP machine I was able to get the good sleep my so desperately needed and the best…you star feeling better immediately, A LOT BETTER. I have already told my family and friends about the great work they do and would recommend Dr Ludwick and his friendly staff to anyone you know that may be suffering from sleep apnea. They really did save my life.

I have been seeing Dr. Ludwick since 2011. He did my second sinus surgery and has treated me for chronic sinus disease since that time. The surgery and subsequent treatment plan has reduced my sinus problems significantly. I like Dr. Ludwick's straight forward approach to my medical care, and the time he takes to make sure my questions are answered. The technology he uses lets me see exactly what he's doing and what we're dealing with. I really like that. His staff is always courteous and helpful. But, the main reason that he continues to be my ENT is that I TRUST

I visited Dr. Ludwick office after suffering a total of five sinus and ear infection in less than a 6 month time span. I was desperate to feel normal again! I would describe my days at that time feeling like a baby elephant was sitting on my forehead and the world was passing me bye as I stood still. After a few visits, he and I both made a decision that it was time for me to do something about it and trying Balloon Sinuplasty could be an option. It was the best decision I've made and my little elephant friend that walked with me for right at a year is NO LONGER. Dr. Ludwick made the process before and after the procedure a breeze. One of the most important things for me is that Dr. Ludmick called me his self to make sure my recovery was going as plan and if I needed anything please contact him directly.

Thanks again Dr. Ludwick!

I am so happy that Dr Ludwick did the sinus surgery. It was quick with little pain. It solved my sinus problems especially the vertigo dizziness which took me years to realize it was connected to my blocked sinuses. He is good and I recommend him to anyone who has sinus problems.

Over the past 20 years I have been affected by allergy’s that generally were relieved by taking allergy shots on a weekly to monthly basis. Eventually these conditions caused a chronic bacterial sinusitis that would flare up once or twice a year. The allergist’s response was to prescribe additional nasal medications, which resulted in a persistent inflammation and swelling of my nasal tissues and channels, blocking air flow and drainage. This condition was more severe at night and greatly affected my sleep and quality of life.

Fortunately, my allergist sent me to Dr. Ludwick . His examination determined that my problems were caused by my chronic sinusitis, combined with a deviated septum, which further reduced the air flow through my nasal passages. Dr. Ludwick’s operation on my nose on June 16, 2009 has significantly changed my life by restoring my nasal passages to normal healthy conditions. In addition to a successful surgical operation, these nasal improvements have also reduced my allergic reactions, allowing me to stop taking allergy shots.

I strongly recommend Dr. Ludwick to anyone who might suffer from similar conditions. It has now been nearly three years (three allergy seasons) since my nasal operation and my condition has been sustained with no recurrent nasal problems.

When I first saw Dr. Ludwick I was an Afrin addict with frequent sinus infections that often developed into URI’s. I never could kick them without the right antibiotic. Dr. Ludwick did sinus surgery and got me on liquid allergy drops, and the difference is awesome. My allergies are down 90%, and the surgery was a success. He is excellent at telling (and showing) the how’s and why’s of what he is doing and was available post surgery in case of concerns. He’s one of the most down to earth doctors you’ll ever meet as well, easy to talk to. – Jon

Dr. Ludwick and his entire staff were the BEST! I very rarely see a Dr. But after years of being tired all of the time, I gave in and went to see him. My initial visit was very informative and he is up to date on the latest technology (in the office, the sleep center & surgical technique). He scheduled a sleep study and boy was I impressed with the facility and the staff. They took the time to explain every step and made sure that I was always comfortable. After the results of the sleep study he brought me in and explained everything. He never tried to push me to do anything I was not totally comfortable doing. I decided, with his guidence to go ahead with the first step. I have never been so happy with a decission in my life. I CAN BREATH AGAIN!!

I am in the Auto industry and customer satisfaction is a huge deal. I can say that I am very impressed with the level of Customer Service that Dr. Ludwick and his staff provide and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I am truly satisfied!

Dr Ludwick and his staff are very professional which helped me feel comfortable and confident in them. They helped me get scheduled quickly and even let me come in on very short notice. The surgery itself was scheduled with ease and done to accommodate my travel, which was very much appreciated. Dr Ludwick performed an ESS Septoplasty PRITS to help me with a lifelong condition that I was not even really aware of.

Dr Ludwick explained the situation by showing me the areas of concern in my CT scan. He explained the procedure that he would do to fix the problem in a way that was clear. With my allergies seeming to get worse, he was recommended to me by my allergy doctor. Just a week after surgery, I feel almost better then ever, because I now am able to breath like I have never done before. Can’t wait to see how good I feel after the next week! The first few days of recovery were harder than I anticipated, but mostly ended up being some trouble with the antibiotic which was most of that.

Dr Ludwick’s expertise and confidence, and that of his staff, made this so much easier for me. I highly recommend Dr Ludwick and if I ever need any additional surgery of this kind, I will travel back to Houston to make sure I get the best care possible, with Dr Ludwick.

I realize that this review is extremely overdue by a year and a half since my procedure by Dr. Ludwick. Dr Ludwick and his staff are extremely professional which helped me feel comfortable and confident in them. Dr. Ludwick, was recommended to me after many years of constant Sinus Headache’s, allergy testing/ shots, and Sinus Infections.

Upon my first meeting with Dr. Ludwick, he was extremely thorough, communicated direct expectations of procedures etc… and “his” own testing to rule out any overlooked test etc… from my previous ENT doctor. After performing a sleep study test, CT Scans, etc…. the final conclusion was to perform an ESS Septoplasty PRITS to help me with a lifelong condition I didn’t realize I had. The surgery itself was scheduled with ease and done to accommodate my travel, which was very much appreciated. Dr Ludwick explained the situation by showing me the areas of concern in my CT scan. He explained the procedure in simple terms and what to expect from the post-op.

I had the surgery early morning 7am CST on Wednesday morning for about a couple of hours and a couple of hrs in recovery. Dr. Ludwick communicated the instructions for care to my sister for the next few days. Which the most critical one was to slept at a 45 degree angle to eliminate the blood drainage/clotting by laying straight down. I slept at a 45 degree angle for about 2 days and felt like “Rip Van Winkle” just sleeping and taking my antibiotics too. Dr. Ludwick called me for the first 3 days to inquire how I was doing and if, I was encountering any problems. I really didn’t have any complications after the surgery or even while recuperating either.

I returned back to Dr. Ludwick’s office for my post op appts. and everything went perfectly. I returned back to my office on Tuesday morning and was able to breathe for the first time without any issues. Time has flown by and I can honestly say how I wished I had done this procedure much earlier and found Dr. Ludwick. I have not encountered a Sinus Headache since the surgery and allergies……what allergies? Nothing has really perked up my allergies either. Once in awhile I might have to take a Zyrtec-D (1 in about 6-7 months) but other than this it’s an awesome feeling!

Dr Ludwick’s expertise and confidence, and that of his staff, made this so much easier for me. I highly recommend Dr Ludwick if you want only “THE BEST ENT” ! Many, many thanks for giving me back my life again!

I highly recommend Dr. Ludwick and the West Houston ENT & Sleep Center. I came to Dr. Ludwick after being passed from my PCP to an allergist, and from my allergist to an ENT. I had been suffering from recurring sinus infections for the past several years, and I was tired of taking antibiotic after antibiotic with no continuous relief. Dr. Ludwick was exceptional in his ability to explain the source of my problem and the anatomy of the sinuses – of which I knew nothing about. When his recommendation was surgery, I was more than hesitant, but he encouraged me to bring in my husband to discuss options, answer questions, etc. Once Dr. Ludwick allayed my fears concerning sinus surgery, I scheduled my surgery for a few weeks out. The scheduling process was easy, and I was pleased with the professionalism of the surgery center where the procedure took place. Unfortunately, I had some complications with bleeding post-surgery. This was unexpected and highly unusual, and I’m now making an effort to meet with a hematologist to ensure that there is nothing else going on. Four days post-surgery, my nose started bleeding profusely. It was a Sunday night over Memorial Day weekend, and I emailed Dr. Ludwick fairly terrified. He called me back within 2 minutes and promptly met me in the ER. After staying overnight, he took me back to the operating room on Memorial Day to place packs in my sinus cavities and stop the bleeding. This was the last thing I wanted, but it was the only thing that worked. Five long days later, the packs were removed, and I could breathe again. Since then, I’ve felt great. Despite the two hard weeks post-surgery, I would do it again to get some relief from always being sick. I feel very optimistic about the future of my health, and I look forward to winters and springs without going on antibiotics to fight sinus infections. More than anything, I must praise Dr. Ludwick’s accessibility and his fast, thorough responses to questions. I emailed him daily, and I’m sure I drove him a bit crazy, but his patience and responsiveness were unparalleled. The experience of going to the ER and having a subsequent procedure in the operating room was made more tolerable just knowing that he was there to handle everything. In fact, as soon as I walked in the door of the ER, they took me straight to the back, as they had already been expecting me. After moving from a small town in Massachusetts where health care providers operated out of their own homes and routinely responded to emails and voicemails, I am beyond grateful to find the same level of communication and care here in Houston. Thank you, Dr. Ludwick, for all you have done to make me well!

B Zone

Dr. Ludwick is a fantastic doctor. I too had started my experience with Dr. Ludwick because of recurrent Sinus infections. Dr. Ludwick is really, really good at actually explaining what is happening and why versus leaving you in limbo as to what is actually being prescribed. After surgery I have been infection free, and while that alone is a great story, the follow up care is equally as good. If you have an issue that requires immediate attention, his staff is always accommodating and most times can get you in the same day.

Also, what I did not realize since I only saw Dr. Ludwick for Sinuses is that he is quite knowledgeable about issues from the neck up. I had another issue crop up where I had a swollen lymph node and my internist was leading me down some very strange paths. I had to see Dr. Ludwick to rule out a sinus infection and he was very quickly able to direct me on the right path. These days good doctors that actually think through what they are doing before prescribing something are rare, I have nothing but the highest recommendations for Dr. Ludwick, he is awesome.

I have had horrible allergies for all of my life, with not much relief, and allergy shots were really hard on my system. Dr Ludwick recommended I try allergy drops a year ago and they have really helped minimize my allergy symptoms. After about six months of taking the drops I began to see a drop in my symptoms. I highly recommend the drops, especially if allergy shots are hard on you; it is difficult for you to make appointments for allergy shots; or if you simply don’t like shots. Furthermore, Dr. Ludwick and his staff are very knowledgeable about the allergy drops and always helpful if I have any questions or concerns.

I came to West Houston ENT with complex issues with sinus and allergies. I was dealing with these issues for the last two years and was not well at all.

When I had suffered enough with this, I went online and found a listing for Dr. James Ludwick. I made an appointment and had all of the testing for allergies completed in a very expedient manner. I then began the process with Dr. Ludwick of having sinus surgery. I was a little nervous at first but I am so glad that I did have the surgery. Since then, I have a much better quality of life and feel renewed. In my perception Dr. James Ludwick is without a doubt one of the leading doctors in this discipline that Houston, TX has to offer.

The staff at West Houston ENT are simply wonderful as well. I have developed such a good friendship with all of the ladies in the front office. I feel like I am visiting with my best girlfriends each and every time. Dr. Ludwick has chosen such a friendly, intelligent, and outgoing staff. Marisol and Samantha are the tops!

Lastly, the art deco design of the office/waiting area is simply FABULOUS!

Thank you to all!

Dr. James J. Ludwick is quite possibly the best ENT in Houston and overall was happy with the quality of care I received. I was referred to this practice by my PCP for an issue I was having with my nose. I received an appointment within two days. The waiting time to see Dr. Ludwick (approx five minutes) but the physician was friendly, personable & took his time in treating me. He took the time to communicate with my allergist to discuss my care and decide the best treatment plan. He also personally called me to follow-up and let me know what they had decided. I highly recommend this ENT in Houston. He is truly phenomenal. The office was new, clean and well organized. The staff was friendly and courteous.

Brenda Griggs

Not only did Dr. Ludwick do a great job on my nose, but he also figured out exactly what it was that I wanted before doing anything. Dr. Ludwick was honest and had my health as his best interest. Dr. Ludwick made sure that he was confident in doing the surgery based on goals that I had in mind because he wants to make sure that he can do the best job possible. Dr. Ludwick was more than helpful and demonstrated that he cared for me as I’m sure he does for all his other patients.

Dr.Ludwick to me is an inspiration. He has inspired me to become a doctor because the sacrifice he has made to make me healthier. I believe he is the best doctor out there when it comes down. No doctor can help a person more than him. He is someone that really wants to help people other than take home the money. I like that the most about him. Most doctors ive had care more about the money than they do the patient. I have put my faith on him a lot of times during surgery and now it seems like its paying off. More people should trust Dr.Ludwick just like i have numerous time because it will pay off some time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ludwick since March of this year. I came to him after suffering with sinus infections for 4 months, along with the severe headaches, flu-like symptoms and all-round malaise. I had been on antibiotics three times and my primary care provider referred me to him.

My husband and I were impressed with his profession demeanor and thorough explanation of my options. He ordered the necessary tests to determine if I was a candidate for surgery. I had an allergy test done and the technician was so gentle and friendly, the otherwise unpleasant experience turned out to be enjoyable.

After meeting with Dr. Ludwick again to discuss the results of the tests, we decided I should have the surgery. The doctor did not insist that I have the surgery, he just explained the pros and cons and what I could expect as far as results and recovery.

I have always found the staff to be very friendly, respectful and helpful, especially with getting information from my insurance company. Everything went exactly as I was told. There were no unexpected costs and I have noticed a tremendous difference in how I feel.

I have already recommended the West Houston ENT office to my family and friends. When I first came to the office I was anxious and apprehensive. It didn’t take long for me to feel at ease. They have been an answer to my prayers.

Hello,
I want to encapsulate my experience with you and your team to date. In a word, excellent. I think the holistic practice methodology is just great. High touch for the patient and focused on good outcomes while combining sleep, allergy treatment and surgery. This combination of services also saves me a great deal of time and money I would spend chasing down multiple providers all the while working with people who actually know me as a person and patient. This is the rare exception in medicine from my view as a patient and I place a high value. I know it took a while to get the surgical option and I would like to give a few lines on this topic.

I had polypectomy, turbinectomy and septoplasty in 1989 while a junior in college. The surgery was advertised as providing much better breathing results. Nothing was mentioned about the recovery which was awful. Sinus packing, nausea due to blood draining down the back of my throat and zero ability to breathe made the recovery almost not worth the trouble. This experience made me very reluctant to do it again. But, you are a man of your word. I could breathe better hours after surgery, I sat and ate dinner that night with my family at the dinner table and was able to work in three days wit pretty minor pain. Today, my airflow is fantastic and I am recommending you to multiple friends all of whom had the same surgery and horrible recovery as me in the past.

Thanks again to you, Samantha, Marisol and your entire staff. Five star rating.

Sleep Lab Testimonials

Aaron Williams

Being new to the Houston area, I was very pleased to have found the West Houston ENT & Sleep Center. Dr. Ludwick and his staff provided me with excellent diagnostic services and treatment for my sleep apnea. The sleep lab facility rivals most 5-star hotels and is equipped with start-of-the-art equipment and staff. It is nice to find such professional service in today’s medical community.
